Avoiding Injuries During Your Move to Columbus

If you are moving to Columbus, you should consider ways that you can avoid any injuries from occurring. The last thing you need during a stressful move is for you to also put physical strain on your body. At All My Sons, we would like to do everything in our power to minimize the difficulty of your move. In order to follow through on this promise, we would like to offer you a few safety trip to have a safe move to Columbus this summer.

• Pack boxes so that their weight is distributed evenly. This reduces the strain you will feel on your back when you are lifting boxes. Also, center your weight so that you are relying on your legs, rather than your back to lift. Squat down and center yourself.

• Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water or other hydrating fluids. Coconut water and watermelon juice both are refreshing and contain a lot of electrolytes, which will restore the inner balance of your system.

• Watch out for unsafe walkway areas. Make sure that before you lift and move boxes that you survey your surroundings. Remove all extraneous items from the floor so that you don’t trip. Mentally note where there are steps or an unlevel ground. Also, make sure that the floor isn’t wet so that you don’t slip.

• Avoid flammable items. Do not pack items such as match boxes, paint thinners, aerosol cans and other chemicals. They are highly flammable and dangerous. At All My Sons, we do not permit them on the truck for this reason.
