If you grew up in Columbus, candy buckeyes can been seen around town year-round. Part of football party platters and holiday treats, shaped like the fruit of Ohio’s state tree (the Buckeye nut); these sweet delights are chocolate with a smooth peanut butter center.

This year, the fourth graders at Piqua Catholic School helped to gather 300 signatures in order to make candy buckeyes the official Ohio state candy.
The issue was introduced by Ohio State Representative Richard Adams and is expected to get approved, as the candy is an infamous Ohio tradition.
If approved, the Buckeye candy will join the cardinal state bird, the state juice (tomato juice), and the official state song “Hang on, Sloopy”.
