Columbus movers want you to love living in Columbus, so go out and have fun this October!

A rising concern in local doctors is that young people are suffering from hearing loss at much younger ages than expected, and Columbus movers want parents to be informed.

A local Columbus doctor recently reported a 40 percent increase in muffled hearing and ringing in the ears, induced by noise. Noise-induced hearing loss is a rising issue that many doctors are starting to take note of and wondering why.

If you are moving to Ohio, many Central Ohio locations can be noisy on a day-to-day basis, with neighbors constantly having to tell each other to keep their noise levels down.

However, where exactly is the noise coming from?

If you have young children who like to blast their music the highest it can go, or watch movies and play video games with the volume so loud you feel as if you are living in the movie, take caution and ask them to turn it down. Regardless of how much fuss they give you, you will be doing them a favor. Ears can only handle 85 decibels of noise for eight hours. If sound reaches above that 85 decibels, the ears can only handle it for less than eight hours. Increasing volumes mean the less amount of time that your ears can handle the sound waves, before creating damage and hearing loss.

Some children listen to their music, watch movies, or play video games with the sound around 90 decibels, severely damaging their ears. The younger the child, the less their ears can handle.

Tyler’s Light is a foundation that was created by Wayne Campbell, a local Pickerington parent who lost his 23-year-old son to a heroin overdose back in 2011. The leaders of Tyler’s Light have recently announced that they have received a new grant that will allow them to establish voluntary drug-testing programs in both of Pickerington’s local high schools.

On behalf of the George and Dollie Zimpfer Fund last week, the Fairfield County Foundation granted Tyler’s Light $10,000 for their “Drug Free Clubs”.

Although no student is required to join, they are allowed to voluntarily sign up, with parents’ consent, for $10, every school year.

Participation in the drug-free program means random drug testing for participants, encouraging them to remain drug-free throughout the entire school year. Many parents see this as beneficial to their children, so that they constantly are thinking, “I could be randomly drug tested tomorrow” and will refrain from using drugs. If students pass their drug tests and remain drug free throughout the entire school year, they are given free admission to school sporting events, half-price prom tickets, and discounts at local participating businesses. If a student fails a drug test, their parents will be notified and drug counseling options will be suggested.

“It’s a way to help students say ‘no’ when they’re in a tight situation,” says Campbell.

Pickerington moving companies want families with teens to be safe and help create teen drug awareness with Wayne Campbell and Tyler’s Light. Talking to your teen about joining the Pickerington high schools’ Drug Free Club could end up saving their life.

In the warm, red month of February…love is of course in the air! If you recently moved to Ohio and are looking for the perfect spot to celebrate your love with your significant other, check out one of the TWO cities that made it on Amazon’s list of the “Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in the U.S.”.

Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio were in the top ten on Amazon’s list of romantic cities, a study based off of the sale of “romance” products – everything from erotic fiction and relationship books to romance comedies and “the sales of sexual wellness products”.

Although Columbus did not make the cut as one of the romantic cities, and Ohio’s cities were not number one (that spot being owned by Knoxville, Tennessee year after year), the state still holds two of the top 10 on the Top 20 list.

Columbus movers want new residents to get in on the romance and take your significant other to one of these top romantic Ohio restaurants:

The Caroline: Located at 5 S. Market St., Troy: for an intimate atmosphere and delectable dishes

Coldwater Café: Located at 19 E. Main St., Tipp City: This restaurant serves up some of the most perfect dishes you will ever see and was once rated the “Most Romantic Restaurant”.

Jay’s Restaurant: Can be found at 225 E. Sixth St., Dayton’s Oregon Historic District: For wine and desert that will take your lover’s breath away, this is the perfect spot, being rated with the best wine in the city.

If you and your family are moving to Columbus and you have a student who needs some additional assistance in reading, Columbus moving companies want you to know that you are moving to the right place!

The Ohio Department of Education wants every single student to be able to pass the Ohio Achievement Assessments. Since the minimum score is 394, if students fall short of the minimum, assistance is provided to them so that they can meet the requirements in order to pass retesting in spring.

After testing, the results are sealed and mailed to parents for their view. From there, if you would like to look into how struggling readers can receive free tutoring in order to score higher, you can check with your school for more information.

This year, 81 third graders needed reading assistance, and 52 had already been receiving reading assistance before testing took place.

The OAA also raised the reaching score minimum from 392 to 394 this year, in attempts to align with the OAA proficient score of 400.

“All the students who are below (the minimum score) have plans and are receiving reading intervention,” said Curriculum Director Angel King.

King said that last year, four students were held back in the third grade for not passing the OAA’s test. However, all four students were special circumstances and all four graduated to the fourth grade during the same calendar year that they repeated the third grade; allowing them to advance appropriately and not have to repeat the entire third-grade reading curriculum.

If a student DOES have to be held back, the school has to provide a highly experienced reading teacher and 90 minutes of reading instruction, every day.

If you know that your student will be one of the struggling readers and needs extra educational help, rest assured that moving to Columbus will be able to help facilitate your child’s needs. Ohio aims for no child to be left behind, and when moving, All My Sons aims for none of your belongings to be left behind.

Earlier this month, Ohio-made supercar Acura NSX made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and Columbus moving companies are excited to transport them for future owners.

Rolling onto the floor with its engine revving, the 2015 Honda-owned car revealed its roughly $150,000 price tag, completed with a showcase by comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who is featured in the hotrod’s ad campaign.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Acura division, Mike Accavitti, says that, “As kids, we grow up dreaming of cars limited only by our imaginations. The NSX is that kind of car.”

Erik Berkman, executive vice president of the Acura business planning office, explains how “The NSX reflects Acura’s American roots and makes a powerful statement about the strong role being played by our North American operations in envisioning and building the future of Acura.”

Engineering of the new model, which had not been updated since 2005, has been taking place in Marysville and opened up doors to new jobs in Ohio. If you are moving to Columbus and have always dreamed of owning an Acura NSX, you will find them in their home state. If you are an automotive technician or engineer who specializes in Honda and Acura mechanics, you may want to check out job positions at one of their main branches when moving to Columbus.

According to a Twitter tweet late last night, Oregon only loses when they wear their grey pants. Well, thank goodness they did or Zeke Elliott may not have been able to reach 246 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. Oregon’s grey pants have nothing to do with Elliott’s third straight game over 200 yards.

Columbus movers and Lebron James rejoiced as the game went in favor for Ohio locals and three-time national title winner Urban Meyer.

Although the first two minutes and 39 seconds of the game looked promising for Oregon, with Marcus Mariota advancing 75 yards and completing a touchdown pass to Keenan Lowe, the next three hours would dim the lights on the Oregon team.

When OSU QB Cardale Jones scored a rushing touchdown in Q2 that gave the Buckeyes a 21-7 lead, Oregon fans still remained hopeful; some tweeting that the last time Oregon played a Bug Ten team, they didn’t step up their game until Q3.

While making his way to the locker room for halftime, Urban Meyer told ESPN that he predicted Oregon to make a second-half charge at them; explaining how his team is performing well because “we’re tackling.” However, Oregon could not break the hold that OSU had on the line of scrimmage.

Although Oregon put up a fight during the last 9 minutes of the game, closing in on the stroke of midnight and lagging behind two touchdowns, proved a little too late for a game-changer. The game left Columbus movers, residents, and famous fans on the edge of their seats during Q4, with a final score of 42-20, a win for OSU.

Columbus moving companies want to urge current Columbus residents or anyone who is planning on moving to Columbus, to stock up on gas before prices increase.

Since most moving companies will charge you for fuel or make you return the moving truck with a full tank, go to your local gas station and fill up gas cans while prices are at an all-time low, so that your move will be cheaper.

Gasoline prices in Ohio are starting to increase again, with the average now at just above $2 a gallon. The prices are expected to remain low throughout January and then see a potential increase. So if like the current price at the pump, it is best to stock up with as much as you can, while it is still affordable.

If you live close to the Sam’s Club in Reynoldsburg, you will find that gas at their location is the cheapest around, at $1.72 a gallon. Just around the corner, gas prices spike to $2.15 a gallon, so make the extra mile drive or two and make sure that you are stopping at a gas station that still has a low price.

Although the national average gas price continues to drop, Tom Kloza, an energy analyst for the Oil Price Information Service, says that the Great Lakes states such as Ohio do not see the effects of dropping fuel costs as quickly as other states across the nation do.

Regardless if gas prices increase across the board, 2015 is predicted to see the lowest average gas prices since 2009, making it the perfect year to get out and travel, spend the extra pocket cash on desirables, or let All My Sons move you to another state.

If you grew up in Columbus, candy buckeyes can been seen around town year-round. Part of football party platters and holiday treats, shaped like the fruit of Ohio’s state tree (the Buckeye nut); these sweet delights are chocolate with a smooth peanut butter center.

If you are moving to Columbus, it is likely that everyone you meet eats candy buckeyes and knows someone that can teach you how to make them, just ask your Columbus moving company.

This year, the fourth graders at Piqua Catholic School helped to gather 300 signatures in order to make candy buckeyes the official Ohio state candy.

The issue was introduced by Ohio State Representative Richard Adams and is expected to get approved, as the candy is an infamous Ohio tradition.

If approved, the Buckeye candy will join the cardinal state bird, the state juice (tomato juice), and the official state song “Hang on, Sloopy”.

All My Sons Moving & Storage of Columbus can help make your move easy and stress-free, our local movers may also be able to lend you a great reference for making candy buckeyes to take when meeting your new neighbors.
