2014 Breast Cancer Awareness Events

Columbus, Ohio has many big-time, successful events during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether you are an Ohio local or moving to Columbus this month, check out what your surrounding neighborhoods have to offer so that you can have a part in finding a cure.

1. Buckeyes GO PINK Game:

The largest Oklahoma State University event of October is the Buckeyes GO PINK Game. Every year Buckeye Nation goes pink for their mid-month October game, and this year the Buckeyes will play against Rutgers. Help turn Ohio Stadium pink by wearing pink accessories or arriving early to receive a pink rally item.

If you attend OSU, you can also take part in the SOMC Breast Cancer Compassion Fund and Jacob Tolliver Weekend DVD Release Party, One Buck at a Time Auction and Live Music, and the Paint it Pink Market Street events the first week of October. Join OSU in “tackling breast cancer one buck at a time”.

2. Komen Race for the Cure:

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world’s largest and most successful fundraising and education event for breast cancer ever created. Participants can choose to run or walk either a 5k or 1-mile course, cheer at the finish line, or simply make a donation.

3. National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day):

In honor of National Breast Cancer Reconstruction Awareness Day, OSU’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is recognizing the many faces of breast cancer and the individual journeys and struggles of each diagnosed breast cancer patient. If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer you can help OSU create awareness by Tweeting or Instagramming your BRAve Face and story with the hashtag #OSUBraveFace.

4. Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride:

Trek Bicycle retailers around the United States will host the 9th annual Trek Breast Cancer Awareness ride that features 10 and 25 mile family-friendly group rides. All proceeds will go directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

5. Sunny 95’s “Pink With A Purpose”:

Local radio station, Sunny 95 urges women to attend one of 6 one-hour appearances at varying locations in Columbus such as Macy’s of Easton in order to schedule their mammogram. Simply schedule your appointment and receive a $20 Macy’s gift card.
